Traditional Machester delicacy! Little individual pastries bursting with currants and spice. Bake up a batch of your own in stead of buying them. They make a great food gift as they will keep for a while in an airtight tin.

A rich gooey chilled cake that you can cut up into biscuit portions. Pure heaven for anyone who loves chocolate! Be patient, for best results - you will need to chill overnight or for at least 8 hours.

Very easy to make for a children's birthday party because they can help!

Traditional Australian recipe, handed down from my mother. Her recipe has coconut and ginger in it which makes these especially good. Originally, these delicious bikkies were lovingly baked and sent in care packages to our soldiers at war.

A savoury shortbread, great as a starter or to serve with a selection of cheeses and relishes. I use Asiago cheese as it doesn't contain rennet and is suitable for ovo-lacto vegetarians, but you can use Parmesan if you prefer.

These taste so good that I guarantee you will really like them! It's easy enough too for children to make.

For all the gorgeous chocolate cakes around (and there are many), I still have a soft spot for these crunchy, chewy little buns. I include them partly because when looking for a recipe for them recently I found it suprisingly difficult to find one. Oh come on, don't tell me you don't like them! so get COOKING!!!

This is an interesting twist on the classic that my daughter made at school. It has now become a firm favourite in our house.

Deliciously sticky, yet eminently sensible, flapjacks are perfect snack food. They're portable, they keep well, and the oats are a good source of fibre, which slows the release of sugar into the body.

My version of the old-fashioned afternoon tea treat, but still delicious!

These are so simple to make that my 3 year old daughter can do most of the work. Make sure not to roll the pastry too thin, and don't put too much jam in.

This fudge like brownie is rich but very tasty! I like to bake them, then leave in the fridge overnight for that lovely fudgy texture. I like to eat them on their own or serve it with vanilla ice cream and berries.

Similar to Viennese biscuits, these are made with a small amount of custard powder to add extra richness. Try sandwiching two together with jam or a buttercream icing.

Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle. Drizzle melted chocolate over the top for a nice presentation.

Both adults and children love these. Rice Krispies added to melted mars bars to make chocolaty, crispy and delicious treats. I can't eat wheat so this is great instead of biscuits or cake.
