"This is an elegant dinner for company, and not hard to do at all. Add wild rice and some green vegetables with this for a completely wonderful meal."

This is a vegetarian stock that I serve over couscous. It's also good on its own. Hard-boiled eggs can be added according to the number of people being served.

As a goalkeeper for a top UK soccer team, I revel in my nickname as the "pie man". This is my favourite post match pie. Enjoy with a pint of scrumpy.

Traditional Machester delicacy! Little individual pastries bursting with currants and spice. Bake up a batch of your own in stead of buying them. They make a great food gift as they will keep for a while in an airtight tin.

This is a very nice, soft loaf which will warm you up with a cuppa on a cold, rainy day! It smells fantastic while it is baking.

A heavenly, two ingredient chocolate dessert! So easy, too! After chilling for a couple of hours, you can also use the firmed mousse to make chocolate truffles.

This is pure heaven - well I think so anyway! It's sweet, melts in your mouth but is not chewy. This version is flavoured with chocolate and it makes a great gift. I always make some for my daughter's teachers at Christmas.

Banana muffins make a healthy snack for children after school. They are so easy to make and freeze well too. So, make these instead of throwing away those brown bananas!

This is a really lovely creamy soup with a bit of a kick to it. It's an ideal winter warmer or as spicy starter which delights the palate. Leave out the Worcestershire sauce and it's suitable for vegetarians.

A delicious traditional breakfast dish using smoked white fish, rice and eggs. It is based on the Indian dish Khichri. My family also loves this with tomato ketchup!!

I think this was the first recipe I learnt!! There is no baking involved so these are much quicker. You boil the potatoes first, then make the filling, then pop them under the grill. Pure comfort food!
